Listen and watch the students in Boston Latin School's Facing History and Ourselves class as they confront the difficult issues of racism, prejudice, anti-Semitism, and other examples of collective violence that have too often shaped our civilization. Their polished, sophisticated Web site serves both to inform visitors about the program, and as a reflection of the class itself: students, family members, teachers, historians, and other educators contribute their diverse points of view to a discussion board; a research room provides access to a rich array of resources; student portfolios showcase the results of past projects; and a Lessons area provides descriptions of current and past projects. The site represents the collaborative efforts of current students and alumni, who worked side-by-side after school and during the summer to design and build it. The project encourages students to draw from a variety of information sources and disciplines in order to solve issues facing today's society.
